Heading to its Townsville stronghold, Red Bull Ampol Racing is set to become the first team in Supercars history to win 250 races.
Triple Eight Camaros have won seven races — four for Broc Feeney, three for Shane van Gisbergen — in 2023.
Feeney’s Race 14 victory at the betr Darwin Triple Crown was the 248th for the team, which debuted in 2003.
Jamie Whincup has the most wins for Triple Eight, taking 124 victories and a record seven championships.
The team has also won the Bathurst 1000 nine times, level with the legendary Holden Dealer Team.
The record could be reached in Townsville, where van Gisbergen took the team’s 200th victory in 2020.
Triple Eight has a staggering record in Townsville, taking 22 of the 36 wins on offer since the circuit’s 2009 debut.
Whincup’s 12 wins is the outright record, with van Gisbergen winning both races in 2022 to take his tally to 10.
The 2020 win helped Triple Eight become the first — and so far, only — team to record 200 Supercars wins.
The very first win came in a Falcon at Eastern Creek — now Sydney Motorsport Park — courtesy of Craig Lowndes in 2005.
In the years since, Triple Eight has won 10 drivers’ championships, and is now in the frame for an 11th after Feeney dominated in Darwin.
Feeney and van Gisbergen were first and second in Race 14, and first and second on point for the round.
Heading to the NTI Townsville 500, Feeney is just 91 points behind Erebus Motorsport’s Brodie Kostecki, and 32 points behind Will Brown.
The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the NTI Townsville 500 on July 7-9. Tickets are on sale now.
