Iconic livery continues for Waters' Gen3 Mustang

Tickford Racing has unveiled Cam Waters’ 2023 race livery, with the familiar lime green and matte black of Monster Energy returning on the #6 Ford.

Waters has been backed by the energy drinks giant since his main game debut in 2016.

The Tickford star has carried the iconic matte black look since 2017, the year he won the Sandown 500.

The look remains in 2023, albeit with a facelift due to the new Gen3 Mustang package.

Tickford will run four entries this season as it chases its first drivers' championship since 2015, with Waters again the team's spearhead.

Waters finished runner-up last season in what was his second second-place finish in three seasons.

The 28-year-old won three races and proved Shane van Gisbergen’s closest challenger on track.

Van Gisbergen ultimately proved the benchmark, but Waters is hoping the tides will turn come the new era.

The livery reveal comes after Waters tested the #6 Mustang in a plain-black testing livery.

“It feels like we’ve been talking about Gen3 forever, so it’s absolutely awesome to finally see the new Monster Mustang in the flesh,” Waters said.

“It looks tough and sounds even better, if it races half as good as it looks we’ll be winning a lot of races, so I can’t wait to get it out on the track.”

“It’s a huge year for the category, the new car could really shake things up.

“Everyone’s pretty much starting from scratch so there will be a lot to learn over the next few weeks in testing, and it’ll be anyone’s game when we get to Newcastle.

"I’m super pumped to get the season going, obviously the last couple of years we’ve been pretty strong, won a bunch of races and poles.

"But this year’s a great opportunity for us to take that next step.

"We’ve put in a ton of work to get to this point and will be working hard over the next few weeks preparing for Newcastle.

"No doubt we’re going to come out swinging and look to start our season with a big result.”

Tickford has now revealed three of its four 2023 liveries, with only the new-look TRADIE Mustang of rookie Declan Fraser remaining.

All 25 cars will test at Sydney Motorsport Park on Wednesday. Entry is free for all spectators.

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence at the Thrifty Newcastle 500 on March 10-12.

Tickets are on sale on Supercars.com and Ticketek.com.
