Reigning Super2 champion Kai Allen has revealed his new-look Eggleston Motorsport Commodore, which features the #1.

Allen, 18, is aiming to become the first driver in Dunlop Series history to win consecutive Super2 titles.

The Mount Gambier teenager welcomes major backing from two former Erebus Motorsport backers. The car will carry Coca-Cola branding on the doors, while Southern Cross Truck Rentals branding is on the rear quarter panels.

Allen will form part of a four-pronged Eggleston attack, alongside Cooper Murray, Cameron Crick and Jordyn Sinni.

The #1 is rare in the Dunlop Series — in fact, it has only been used twice before, by Paul Dumbrell in 2015, and Garry Jacobson in 2017.

Dumbrell won Eggleston’s first title in 2014, and returned in 2015 with the #1. In 2016, Jacobson won with Tickford Racing (then Prodrive Racing Australia), and ran the #1 in 2017.

Dumbrell, Dean Canto (2000, 2005) and Steve Owen (2008, 2010) are the only multiple champions, but didn't reel them off in consecutive years.

Allen helped the Eggleston squad to its second title last season, taking the points lead from long-time leader Zak Best at the final round in Adelaide.

For Allen, running the #1 means he has benched his preferred #26, which he has used since his karting years.

He will share the famous #17 with Will Davison in the 2024 enduros with the Shell V-Power Racing Team, with Allen set for his first Sandown 500 start and second Bathurst 1000 start.

Allen’s new-look #1 Commodore will hit the track on Friday with Practice 1 at the Thrifty Bathurst 500 at 9:00am local time.
