Will Brown required post-race medical treatment after Race 3
2024 champion battled with cool suit failure on hot Sydney day
Brown emerged in paddock after leaving medical centre
2024 Supercars champion Will Brown has been discharged from the in-field medical centre after requiring post-race treatment.
Brown was attended to by medical staff after Race 3, which was won by teammate Broc Feeney.
The DUNLOP Sydney 500 was held in hot conditions, with afternoon showers putting drivers and teams through high humidity during Race 3.
Cool suit issues struck both Triple Eight drivers; Feeney was attended to by team crew and medical staff post-race, before completing podium and media commitments.
Brown, meanwhile, went straight to the in-field medical centre, before being discharged shortly afterwards.
It was a tough race for the #888 Ford, who received a 15-second penalty for his role in an incident also involving Anton De Pasquale and Brodie Kostecki following the race's sole Safety Car restart.
While Feeney was speaking with Supercars.com for the Cool Down Lap presented by Equip Super podcast recording, Brown emerged with team members.
The Queenslander was seen smiling and laughing with his team nearly 90 minutes after the race, with the team politely declining an interview as Brown rehydrated.
Brown later posted to social media, revealing that Team 18 driver David Reynolds had also visited medical.
A Team 18 release said: "[Reynolds] was taken to the infield medical centre for precautionary checks post-race but returned to the Team 18 garage shortly after."
In a team release, Brown apologised to De Pasquale, saying: "Today, today just everything went wrong. The cool suit failed. Thought I was going to die in the car, can't explain the heat and how hard it made that race.
"Finished the race but that's the worst I've ever felt after a drive. Obviously, went for a hole that probably I shouldn't have at the start there.
"Apologies to Anton and his team, I was going for a hole that I shouldn't have gone for looking back at it but at the same time you need to make those moves when they are on.
"It's just been a tough day, tough weekend, really not the way we want to start the year but we know we've got a fast car so we'll push on and have a crack. It's early and there are good signs."
Brown finished 18th, and leaves the DUNLOP Sydney 500 14th in points.
