At least 10 new Supercars will debut at 2026 Sydney 500
Triple Eight switches from Chevrolet to Ford, builds car for SCT
Walkinshaw, BJR swapping to new Toyota GR Supra
Several new cars will make their racing debuts in the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship, with as many as three teams switching brands.
The 2026 season is the fourth of the Gen3 era, and first with Toyota alongside Ford and Chevrolet.
Triple Eight Race Engineering (Chevrolet to Ford), Walkinshaw TWG Racing (Ford to Toyota) and Brad Jones Racing (Chevrolet to Toyota) will all change brands, with brand new cars coming from all three workshops.
Triple Eight and Walkinshaw are building two new cars each, while BJR is also building two new cars and converting a third from a Camaro to a Supra. SCT Motorsport will also debut a new Ford, built by Triple Eight.
Penrite Racing is set to debut a new car for Matt Payne, whose Bathurst winning chassis was retired at the end of 2025. Also debuting a new car is Brodie Kostecki, who raced two different chassis in 2025 either side of his big Gold Coast accident.
DJR's latest Erebus-chassis was earmarked for a debut for Blanchard Racing Team, but was never raced and later sold to DJR.
It means five of 11 teams on the grid will commence the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship with at least one new chassis, totalling 10 new cars in Sydney.
Who is starting 2026 with familiar machinery?
Tickford Racing, Team 18, Matt Stone Racing, Erebus Motorsport, PremiAir Racing and Blanchard Racing Team are set to start 2025 with existing machinery.
Tickford and Erebus have both committed to bringing new cars online during the season, but not for Round 1.
PremiAir Racing isn't planning on debuting new cars any time soon, Team Principal Roland Dane telling Supercars.com: "We've done major refurbishment on the existing cars, they’ve had huge birthdays."
