Race winning Walkinshaw Andretti United Ford lands in New Zealand
Ryan Wood to cut demonstration laps next weekend in Teretonga
Ex-Shane van Gisbergen Camaro to be driven by Triple Eight co-owner
One of the only race run Walkinshaw Andretti United Ford Supercars has landed in New Zealand, where it will cut demonstration laps next weekend.
Chassis WR27, raced by Ryan Wood for the last two seasons and debuted by Nick Percat in 2023, was auctioned midway through 2025.
A private owner has now taken possession of the car in New Zealand, where it will hit the track at Teretonga in Invercargill next week.
WR27 was parked after 2025 as WAU — to be renamed Walkinshaw TWG Racing — builds new Toyota GR Supras.
The WAU Ford is one of two Gen3 Supercars confirmed for demonstration laps at the Teretonga circuit at next weekend's penultimate round of the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy.
The other car in question is the Triple Eight Chevrolet Camaro raced by Shane van Gisbergen throughout 2023, and was carried to victory in that year’s Bathurst 1000.
The Triple Eight Camaro, owned by Tony Quinn and also based in New Zealand, has been driven by the likes of Racing Bulls F1 drivers Arvid Lindblad and Liam Lawson in demos.
For the Teretonga demos, Wood will step back into his former Mustang, while Quinn will drive the Camaro. Passengers will be taken in both cars, with fans given the opportunity to win hot laps via pre-purchasing tickets to the event.
The two Supercars will also hit the track at Highlands the following weekend, with the circuit to host the 70th running of the New Zealand Grand Prix.
Wood — who won two of the four Formula Regional Oceania races in Taupō this weekend — raced WR27 to his first Supercars podium at Taupō, and first pole and win in Perth.
