Brad Vaughan labels Nash Morris "common idiot" after clash
Morris penalised over move that send Vaughan spinning off
Vaughan dropped 78 points to Lochie Dalton in one weekend
Brad Vaughan has hit out at DUNLOP Super2 Series rival Nash Morris following their Darwin collision.
Brad Jones Racing driver Vaughan entered the weekend level on points with Blanchard Racing Team driver Lochie Dalton, but dropped 30 points with a run to eighth on Saturday.
Vaughan qualified fourth for the finale behind Dalton, Morris and Campbell Logan, but managed to slot into second in the opening laps ahead of Morris and Logan.
However, an ill-fated Morris move at Turn 5 midway through the race tipped Vaughan into a spin, and down the order. Morris, a day after being penalised over a move on stablemate Reuben Goodall, copped a 15-second penalty.
Morris crossed the line second, but was demoted to fifth — remarkably being classified just 0.08s ahead of Vaughan.
The move didn't sit well with Vaughan, who dropped 78 points to Dalton in a single weekend.
"Got an awesome start off the line, got into P2 had some really good pace to start the race," Vaughan said.
"Unfortunately, got turned around by someone who's a common idiot which unfortunately ended that result.
"Not too bad though, still third in the points with plenty of races to go so we’ll push on."
The stewards deemed Morris guilty of Careless Driving, stating that the #55 Roadpod Mustang didn't have enough overlap on Vaughan's #80 Precision Commodore.
The stewards report reads: "The Stewards reviewed broadcast vision in conjunction with the DSA.
"The vision showed Car 55 was on the driver’s side of Car 80 at Turn 5 and did not have sufficient overlap making contact to the rear right of Car 80 causing Car 80 to spin and leave the track losing positions.
"The Stewards consider this driving conduct amounts to a breach of the Rules and impose a penalty consistent with previous breaches of a similar nature."
The 2026 DUNLOP Super2 Series resumes in Perth on July 31-August 2.
