Matt Stone Racing is unpacking what led to Harri Jones' high-speed accident in Tuesday's pre-enduro test.
The day's action at Queensland Raceway was headlined by a 200km/h scare for co-driver Harri Jones, who was tipped into a high-speed accident at Turn 6.
Jones walked away from the accident, with the #4 Sherrin Rentals Camaro sustaining significant left side quarter damage.
MSR also hit brake troubles for the wildcard Camaro of Aaron Seton at the race event, with the third-generation racer losing his front brakes and running off at Turn 3 in Friday practice.
Carrera Cup star Jones, who received a late call-up to drive with Le Brocq following the withdrawal of Cameron Crick, said he was on his third or fourth lap following a pit stop when the incident occurred.
MSR withdrew the Camaro from Wednesday's ride session. A MSR spokesperson confirmed to Supercars.com that the car has returned to its Yatala base, where crew are looking over the car and investigating a potential cause.
Speaking to media, including Supercars.com, Jones recounted: “The front brakes were just completely gone and built up about 50psi, and then either a brake line's sheared off or something's gone on, but luckily still had a tiny bit of rear brake.
“It's just like locked rears I think on a down change before it hit the gravel and then it's gone sideways into the tyre wall at Turn 6. So fortunately it is a tyre wall, that's not just straight concrete.
“It didn't slow down much when I hit the brake pedal, so I don't know. I think we were arriving there at about 200 and something. It was pretty quick. It definitely got my attention.”
Le Brocq slipped to 11th position, 55 points outside the top 10 Finals bubble, heading to the AirTouch 500 at The Bend on September 11-13.
