Supercars return to Albert Park for their annual appearance on the world stage for the Melbourne SuperSprint.
Appearing on the undercard of the Formula 1 QATAR AIRWAYS Australian Grand Prix, this weekend will bring a unique challenge that is not replicated anywhere else on the tour.
From four straight days of action, to flag-to-flag sprint races, to wildly different schedules across all four days of the event, we have seen in the past that the unique event provides some wild results.
Of course, that makes it hard to come up with bold predictions, given some of the shocks we've seen in recent years, but there is plenty of potential for some more big results.
Ahead of the Melbourne SuperSprint, here are five bold predictions for the weekend ahead.
MSR win for the third year running

Matt Stone Racing were quietly impressive to open the season. Jack Le Brocq's race pace in Sydney was superb, passing 23 cars across three races, whilst Zach Bates put in some head-turning qualifying performances on full-time debut. If they can put both of those traits into their package, they will be dangerous. If they can put it all together at Albert Park, they could be bringing back yet more sliverware to Yatala.
BRT prove Sydney wasn't a fluke

Blanchard Racing Team were sensational to start the season, however now comes the difficult part, proving it wasn't a fluke. We think they can do it. For Aaron Cameron, it's a return to the track where he made his full-time debut just 12 months ago, so he knows exactly what to expect. James Golding, meanwhile, seems to have a new lease on life, and will want to remain a constant presence at the front of the field.
We get a first-time Larry Perkins Trophy winner

Only five drivers have been crowned Larry Perkins Trophy winners; Jamie Whincup, Chaz Mostert, Shane van Gisbergen, Brodie Kostecki, and Will Brown, who has won it the past two years. Only three of those drivers remain on the grid, and the quality of the drivers who haven't won yet is elite. Broc Feeney, Cam Waters, and Matt Payne are but a few of the drivers who are out to put their name on the LP Trophy. With a field this good, we're due.
Toyota jag their first Supercars podium

This is incredibly bold, given there was a lot of luck involved in getting all five GR Supras into the top 10 in the final race at Sydney. However, all five cars improved markedly over the course of the race weekend, and it put them into a position to capitalise on the chaos. Albert Park may provides similar characteristics to Sydney Motorsport Park, but on a much larger scale. For a brand with involvement in F1, getting a maiden podium would be a big boost.
Brown gets one back on Feeney

It's no secret that the last 12 months have been extremely tough for Will Brown in the inter-team rivalry with Broc Feeney, however this weekend could be where he gets one back. Albert Park is one of his happiest hunting grounds, and he has the silverware to back it up. Sydney was tough, both from a results and physical perspective, however that could all be forgotten very quickly should Brown start to rack up some results over the #88 garage.
