The DUNLOP Super2 Series enters a pivotal stage in Perth, with the conclusion of Sunday's second race bringing up the halfway mark of the 2026 season.
It's been all about Lochie Dalton so far this year, a late deal to drive for Blanchard Racing Team paying dividends to lead the championship by 75 points, half the available points for a single race.
Behind him, the competition is fierce as ever, just 35 points separating second through fifth in the standings, with a gaggle of drivers ready to pounce should Dalton slip.
Ahead of the third round of the 2026 DUNLOP Super2 Series, here are five things to watch out for as the next generation of stars, as well as a familiar returnee, do battle in the West.
Can anyone stop Dalton?
We may only be a third of the way into the 2026 Super2 season, but Lochie Dalton has already emerged as the clear benchmark in the field. Despite a last-minute deal to join Blanchard Racing Team, Dalton has been by far and away the fastest driver all year, and looks as though he will take some stopping. However, with eight races remaining, there’s still plenty of time remaining for the pack to catch up.
Is Logan a genuine contender?
Before the Super2 field rolled into Darwin in June, Campbell Logan had never finished on the podium in a Super2 race or round, nor had he qualified on the front row. By the end of the weekend, he had stunned to claim his first ever race and round wins, and just days later was locked in for his main game debut at The Bend. A career-defining weekend, and one that could be looked back upon as a major turning point if he can go on with it for the remainder of the season.
Will Love play spoiler?
Aaron Love is back in Super2 for the first time since 2023, as he looks to reinvigorate his Supercars career. Eggleston Motorsport’s proven track record of promoting elite talent to Supercars was a big motivator in Love choosing the team for his two round cameo, and his rocky time in Supercars has given the 23-year-old a tougher edge. A more mature, well-rounded Love could spell bad news for the field if the car is under him.
Who can strengthen champ credentials?
There are a few drivers who will be eager to close their gap to runaway leader Dalton this weekend. After finishing level on points in Sydney, Brad Vaughan saw points slip after being spun by Nash Morris, who also had speed in Darwin but was penalised in both races. Reuben Goodall returns off the back of a successful Supercars wildcard appearance in Townsville, whilst Zak Best and Anderson Motorsport’s reunion hasn’t quite fired since storming to a pole on return in Sydney.
Walkinshaw’s next star?
Love won’t be the only new name on the grid in WA, with teenager Lincoln Taylor joining the field in Matt Chahda Motorsport’s second Commodore. Taylor is part of the Walkinshaw Foundation Academy, a program that has produced the likes of Ryan Wood and Zach Bates, with Taylor finishing runner-up in last year’s Toyota GR Cup off the back of a clean sweep at Bathurst. Taylor has also quickly got up to speed in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge this year.
