Kiwi crashed his MSR Commodore in The Esses in Practice 2
Matt Stone Racing is facing an overnight rebuild following a Practice 2 crash for Ayrton Hodson.
The New Zealander crashed midway through the second and final DUNLOP Super2 Series practice session on Thursday afternoon.
Chasing Brad Vaughan, Hodson crossed his #28 Matt Stone Racing Commodore up off the kerb, and slid towards the inside wall.
Hodson collected the inside wall before ricocheting into the outside wall on driver's left, with the Commodore sustaining extensive damage to all four corners.
The incident triggered a red flag, with officials recovering the car.
Hodson spoke briefly with Supercars.com after the car returned to the paddock, and explained that he was trailing Vaughan to pick up cues around the circuit.
The Kiwi was okay, and helped MSR crew — including team owner Matt Stone — retrieve the Commodore from the recovery truck.
The incident had ramifications for the field, with half of the session effectively wiped out. The 17 remaining cars rolled back out with 12 minutes remaining on the clock.
A majority of those cars were fitted with green tyre for qualifying simulations, with Ben Gomersall going fastest of all.
Super2 will next be on track for Boost Mobile Qualifying at 9:00am on Friday morning, which will be followed by a Boost Mobile Top Five Shootout.
