Reigning Repco Sprint Cup winner declares he can win in Sydney next weekend
Broc Feeney has declared that Red Bull Ampol Racing will be right at the sharp end of the field when their return to the Ford camp begins at the DUNLOP Sydney 500.
Feeney had his first drive of the #88 Triple Eight Mustang - which he has christened 'Aurora' - at Queensland Raceway on Monday, logging a 60km new car shakedown.
After completing his shakedown, Feeney then completed engine testing for Supercars alongside Chaz Mostert's Toyota and Jack Le Brocq's Chevrolet.
Feeney completed his allotted 19-lap shakedown over the course of four hours, with Triple Eight meticulous in their run plan as they worked towards a rough setup window ahead of the Destination NSW Test Day next week.
Feeney will get back behind the wheel of his Mustang this weekend for demonstration sessions at the Meguiar's Bathurst 12 Hour, which also doubles as another opportunity for Supercars to monitor the packages of all three manufacturers.
However, the limited running at Queensland Raceway was all Feeney needed to know that he will start 2026 right in the hunt to add to his 26 career wins.
"Obviously the aero has changed a little bit from where they finished last year," Feeney told Supercars.com.
"It does handle a little bit different, but probably a lot of the focus was on the engine stuff and how close that was to the Chev.
"To be honest, all of it was really positive, so I was stoked to get that ball rolling.
"As a HT team we're responsible for where the car ends up, but also the engine, and we're trying to work on that.
"But, I'm really happy, it's a great starting point. I've got all the confidence in the world that the car is capable of going out and winning at Round 1."
The addition of Triple Eight adds to what is already an extremely strong Ford Racing lineup in the Repco Supercars Championship, headlined by the likes of Penrite Racing, Tickford Racing, and Shell V-Power Racing Team.
The 2026 Repco Supercars Championship begins at the DUNLOP Sydney 500 from February 20-22. Tickets for the event, including free general admission on DUNLOP Free Friday, are on sale now.
