Tickford reveals Cam Waters Gold Coast number change
Waters to run #40 for 2025 Gold Coast round, which opens Finals
Tickford star sits fourth, 30 points above seventh place
Cam Waters’s 2025 Finals campaign will commence with a new number on the Monster Energy Ford Mustang.
Waters’s standard #6 will be replaced by the #40 for this weekend’s Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500, which opens the 2025 Repco Supercars Finals Series.
The #40 is in recognition of sponsor Autobarn’s 40th anniversary.
Number changes are nothing new for Waters, who ran the #100 in Newcastle 2018 to mark his 100th Supercars race.
In 2022 at Pukekohe, he ran the #50 in recognition of sponsor Enzed’s 50th anniversary, while he raced Ken Block’s #43 to victory in Adelaide 2023.
In August, Waters raced the #300 — in recognition of his 300th start — to the podium at Queensland Raceway.
The #40 returns for the first time since Bathurst 2020, when Tyler Everingham and Jayden Ojeda raced a Garry Rogers Motorsport wildcard.
It’s perhaps fitting, then, that Waters runs the #40 on a weekend held in the days after Rogers' passing.
Waters is fourth in The Finals standings, 30 points ahead of seventh, heading into this weekend’s round.
Track action in Surfers Paradise commences on Friday.
