Double delight for Walkinshaw Andretti United in teams' championship jump
WAU won 2025 drivers' championship with Chaz Mostert, finished third in teams
Toyota-bound WAU jumped Tickford Racing at final chance of asking
It was double delight for Walkinshaw Andretti United on Sunday at the bp Adelaide Grand Final.
Not only did they secure their first Supercars drivers' championship in 23 years by virtue of Chaz Mostert's second place finish in the final race of 2025, but they also leapt Tickford Racing at the last opportunity to claim third in the 2025 Thrifty Teams' Championship.
Between them, Mostert and teammate Ryan Wood claimed five of a possible six podium finishes between them, with Wood's Sunday efforts hampered by damage sustained in the opening lap collision with Broc Feeney.
Meanwhile, it was a struggle for Tickford, with spearhead Cam Waters failing to qualify in the top 20 for either of the 250km refuelling races on Saturday and Sunday, even being outqualified by NASCAR wildcard Austin Cindric for the final race of the season.
The change means that WAU's brand-new Toyota GR Supras, which will carry the numbers #1 (Mostert) and #2 (Wood) next year, will be lined up in the third-best position in pit lane at the season-opening Sydney 500 in February.
It wasn't the only change in the teams' standings, with the Shell V-Power Racing Team also jumping back ahead of Brad Jones Racing in a weekend highlighted by Brodie Kostecki's $50k payday in the Friday sprint.
