Supercars to open the gates for historic opening day
Fans can watch the highly-anticipated debut of Toyota for free
Friday February 20 free for fans at Sydney Motorsport Park
Supercars fans will be welcomed into Sydney Motorsport Park free of charge for one of the most significant days in the history of the Repco Supercars Championship.
The 2026 Repco Supercars Championship will introduce Toyota to the fabled Ford vs General Motors rivalry that has raged for decades, with the GR Supra set to join the Camaro ZL1 and Mustang GT.
Walkinshaw Andretti United and Brad Jones Racing will run five Supras between them for Chaz Mostert, Ryan Wood, Andre Heimgartner, Cameron Hill, and Macauley Jones.
The opening race of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship will once again be held on the Friday of the Sydney 500, falling on February 20 next year.
And, in an unprecedented move, fans will not have to pay to get into Sydney Motorsport Park on the Friday of the Sydney 500 weekend.
Whilst it will still be a ticketed event, all tickets for Friday will be free, opening up the sport to new audiences.
Supercars Chief Executive James Warburton said: "The debut of Toyota at Sydney Motorsport Park is something we’ve all been looking forward to.
"Making the opening day free for everyone is our way of saying thank you to the fans who make this sport so special. We’re proud of the access we’re able to provide for our fans.”
This year's Sydney 500 produced one of the most iconic finishes in the history of the Repco Supercars Championship, as Cam Waters pipped Broc Feeney by just 0.03s in a drag race to the finish.
The Sydney 500 will be the first of 14 rounds in 2026, the most rounds held in a Supercars season since 2019.
