Lochie Dalton has proven that his maiden Dunlop Super2 Series pole and race win yesterday weren't a flash in the pan, as he went back-to-back in Boost Mobile Qualifying for Race 6 in Townsville.

The 23-year-old set a 1:14.2912s to become the first driver to record multiple Boost Mobile Pole Awards in 2025, as Tickford Autosport once again proved to be the ones to beat.

Teammate and series leader Rylan Gray was 0.1617s behind in second, the first time this season that the pole margin has been larger than one tenth of a second, whilst Reuben Goodall claimed fourth on the grid.

The interloper was Blanchard Racing Team's Bailey Sweeny, who claimed his second third place start in three races with a 1:14.5192s.

Sweeny looked like he could've made it six pole winners in six races as he went fastest of all in the first two sectors on his following lap, only to fade in the final sector and not improve his time.

As the cars rolled out for their opening run, there was a considerable amount of oil dry on line in the Turn 2 braking area following an accident in the preceding Porsche Sprint Challenge support race.

The slippery surface caught out several drivers who were pinching inside fronts in the opening run, which saw series leader Rylan Gray lead the way on a 1:14.9583.

Tickford teammate and Saturday winner Lochie Dalton was just 0.010s behind in second, with Triple Eight's Jackson Walls in third off the back of a strong drive to fifth yesterday.

Dalton's ultimate benchmark was set on the second lap of his second run, just seconds after Gray crossed the line to set his fastest time, amid a flurry of times.

Jarrod Hughes featured at the top briefly, before he eventually dropped to seventh in the #118 Commodore, whilst Brad Vaughan eventually claimed top Holden honours in for Brad Jones Racing in fifth.

The remainder of the top 10 was completed by Jobe Stewart, Hughes, Cameron McLeod, Jackson Walls, and Nash Morris in the fourth of the Tickford Mustangs.

Eggleston Motorsport's torrid weekend continued, with reigning champion Zach Bates the best of their five Commodores in 11th, half a second off the pace of Dalton.

Race 6 of the 2025 Dunlop Super2 Series begins at 1:35pm AEST.
