"Luck, trauma, loss and self-belief" will be at the centre of Mark Winterbottom’s upcoming memoir, with the Supercars legend to take fans inside his rollercoaster career.

HarperCollins Australia has acquired world rights to Frosty, an autobiography co-written by Winterbottom and sports journalist-turned-author James Phelps.

Frosty, which is set to be released on 26 August 2025, will delve into Winterbottom’s emergence from the suburbs of Western Sydney to scaling the summit of Supercars.

Phelps, who reported on Supercars for over a decade with News Corp, co-wrote memoirs for Dick Johnson and NRL legend Johnathan Thurston, and is a bell-selling true crime author.

Upon announcing Frosty, Winterbottom suggested nothing will be off-limits in the book, from personal struggles to his highs and lows in what was a 21-year full-time career in Supercars.

In the last 12 months, Winterbottom was left without a drive for 2025 after being replaced by Anton De Pasquale at Team 18. He was later announced alongside Cam Waters in a fairytale return to Tickford Racing.

In a career that will likely one day lend itself to Hall of Fame honours, Winterbottom won the 2013 Bathurst 1000, 2015 drivers' championship, 39 races and 120 podiums.

"In sport, people judge you based on your performance – the focus is on the end result – but they don’t see the struggles along the way,” Winterbottom said.

"I had a successful 21-year career racing Supercars. When writing this book, I wanted to give more than just the racetrack story.

"I have shared my very personal road to get here, including all the luck, trauma, loss and self-belief. My story is unique and was far from easy.

"I hope this book helps inspire people who have it tough to find strength and determination and to never lose sight of achieving their dreams."

Phelps added: "Mark bravely opens up about the emotional struggles he faced, from a painful rift with his father to the resilience he demonstrated while supporting his mother through her battle with cancer.

"It’s honest and powerful. It’s about perseverance and never backing down. It is the unlikely story of how a boy from Blacktown became a Bathurst king."
