Kai Allen returns to venue where he's enjoyed Dunlop Series success

Penrite Racing rookie Kai Allen is eager to make the most of track familiarity as he prepares to make his firs Supercars starts in Perth at the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440.
Whilst there have been flashes of speed in his opening four events, the 19-year-old is yet to piece together an entire weekend of top 10 results, with two top 10's in three starts in New Zealand his best effort of the season.
However, if history is anything to go by Allen could be in line for a breakthrough weekend in Perth, where he has a standout record in both the Dunlop Super2 Series and the former Super3 Series.
In six starts, Allen has three wins - two in Super3 and one in Super2 last year - two Super3 pole positions, and two front row starts in Super2, the first of which was his maiden front row start in the category.
Having had to learn each of the last three circuits that the Repco Supercars Championship has raced at in 2025, the 2023 Super2 champion is hoping his experience in Perth will allow him to hit the ground running next week.
"It's probably been one of my most successful tracks in Super2 probably behind Townsville, it's another track I've been to which is really handy," Allen told Supercars.com.
"Three of the first four rounds I'd never been to the tracks, being the Grand Prix, Taupō, and Tassie, so a lot to learn in the first couple of sessions. In Perth, I've done three years there in Super2 and Super3.
"It's handy to get there and then out of the gate I get to work on the car and make sure that I'm in fighting form, and I've had a lot of experience around there."
Although Allen was born and raised in Mount Gambier, South Australia, the upcoming return to Perth will mark something of a homecoming for the teenager.
Allen scored his first laps in a race car at Wanneroo, driving a Radical sportscar run by Arise Racing, whilst he has also worked with Penrite Racing Strategic Advisor Garth Tander in his junior career in Perth.
"It was actually my first track I'd ever been on in a race car, I went over there and did some stuff with Arise Racing in Radicals, and also did some coaching with Garth Tander in a Formula Ford.
"I really enjoy it, it's a short track but there's a lot of flow and it suits my driving style, looking out for little bits and pieces that can save metres.
"It's quite unique for me, I can really look after the rear tyre I found in the Super2 car, so it really suits me in the race trim. It's very technical as well, braking is really big there.
"Turn 1 is very different to say the last corner, so there's very different styles going around Perth which I think suits my style to be honest of braking in and steering, and that flowing state.
"I really enjoy the track at Wanneroo, and I'm really excited to jump in there in the Gen3 car, which I haven't done any laps in around there, but considering it's been a really strong venue for me it's going to be cool."
Further adding to the home-like nature of Wanneroo, Allen will compete in front of family based out of Perth, but this time will get to do so as a main game driver.
"I've got my uncle, aunty, and two cousins that live over in the west, it's going to be cool for Mum to see her little brother and here little nieces and nephews.
"It's going to be a ticket for me to go over there as well and catch up with them, and they're going to come out to the track. They've watched me in Super2 and Super3 over the years, but it'll be cool to finally see them get to the main game and have them there watching.
"It'll be good to catch up with them considering we're so far away, we don't get to see each other very much and we've both got busy schedules, so it's good to catch up in the one place.
"It's pretty cool for them to watch me go around the track, and hopefully I can put a bit of a show on for them."
The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship continues at the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 from June 6-8. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
