SCT Motorsport parts ways with Jaxon Evans in silly season surprise
Evans joined SCT, Brad Jones Racing full-time last season
Kiwi was in mix for Finals before untimely run of mid-season DNFs
SCT Motorsport has split with Jaxon Evans in a Supercars silly season shock.
Announced Wednesday, New Zealander Evans won't return in 2026 with the SCT Logistics camp, which runs out of Brad Jones Racing.
Evans, a former Porsche Carrera Cup Australia champion and long-time Porsche factory driver, made his full-time debut with the team in 2024, after two years co-driving with Jack Smith.
The Kiwi was in the mix for a Finals berth midway through the 2025 season before an untimely run of DNFs, headlined by a weekend-ending incident in Darwin.
A noted sportscar ace, Evans is currently in the box seat to win this year's GT World Challenge Australia title with Arise Racing and Ferrari.
In a team statement, Evans was labelled a "key contributor to both SCT Motorsport and the broader Brad Jones Racing organisation" and played "an important role in the team’s development and continued progress."
The team also stated "further updates regarding the team’s 2026 driver line-up will be announced in due course."
“I’m extremely thankful to SCT Logistics and the Smith family for the opportunity to compete full-time in Supercars," Evans said.
"The experiences and lessons learnt along the journey are ones I’ll continue to carry forward throughout my career”
It comes after BJR confirmed its split with Bryce Fullwood last week, paving the way for Cameron Hill to be revealed as his replacement.
The Evans news ensures BJR will have two new drivers for 2026 as it transitions from General Motors to Toyota. Andre Heimgartner was already contracted for 2026, with Macauley Jones retained upon the announcement of Hill.
The SCT drive, underpinned by a Teams Racing Charter owned by Pete Smith, and managed by Andrew Jones, is now the last official Toyota vacancy for next season.
Reigning Super2 champion Zach Bates has been linked to the seat, given his family ties to Toyota. Hill himself stated that the opportunity to be one of Toyota's six foundation drivers was too good an offer to refuse.
“Jaxon has been an incredible contributor to this team during the past three and a half years, firstly as a co-driver and then now in the primary driver role," Andrew Jones said.
"His ability and talent in a race car are world class and combined with the way he connects with people, he has played an instrumental role in the progress that SCT Motorsport has made during his time as part of the team.
"On behalf of everyone within our group, I’d like to express our gratitude to Jaxon. We hope to see him on the Supercars grid again and genuinely wish him all the best.”
Evans will continue his 2025 campaign at the Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 9-12.
