BJR up, DJR down for Sandown Semi Final pit lane
DJR now seventh in teams' championship after tough Gold Coast
DJR points penalty, Heimgartner podium shoots BJR up
Brad Jones Racing were the big winners of a turbulent weekend on the Gold Coast for Dick Johnson Racing.
BJR's four Chevrolets will line up ahead of the two Shell V-Power Fords at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500, in what was the biggest Live Pit Lane change round to round.
DJR entered the weekend sixth behind Team 18, with BJR eighth. However, a litany of troubles for DJR and Matt Stone Racing, coupled with a stunning Sunday podium for Andre Heimgartner, changed the picture again.
DJR's weekend got off to a bad start when Brodie Kostecki crashed in Friday qualifying, before a major Saturday crash ruled him out of the race. Will Davison was penalised on Saturday, and turned around early on Sunday.
MSR, meanwhile, was undone by suspension failures for both Cameron Hill and Nick Percat, with Percat also forced to start from pit lane on Saturday due to a starter motor problem.
It helped BJR ahead of MSR in the points, before dual penalties for DJR promoted BJR to sixth. If not for the points penalties, DJR would have been 28 points ahead of BJR, instead of 72 behind.
All told, BJR (351 points) outscored DJR (151) and MSR (102) by 150 and 209 points respectively, with MSR's tally the lowest haul by any team on the weekend.
In contrast, Triple Eight Race Engineering scored 467 points, led by Broc Feeney's double runner-up weekend.
