Shell V-Power Fords disqualified over technical breach
Both Dick Johnson Racing Ford Mustangs have avoided disqualification from Race 11 qualifying in Tasmania over an alleged technical breach.
Brodie Kostecki and Will Davison qualified fifth and 16th for Saturday's first race of the Snowy River Caravans Tasmania Super 440.
Kostecki had already been demoted from fifth to ninth over a collision with Walkinshaw Andretti United driver Ryan Wood at the hairpin, with the 2023 champion hit with a four-place penalty.
Kostecki and Davison then qualified 21st and 24th for the afternoon race, which will be held on the Soft tyre.
However, DJR's day looked set to go from bad to worse when the team was investigated after qualifying.
Both cars were at risk of disqualification over the technical breach, before it was confirmed before the race that no sanction was necessary.
According to a stewards report issued after Saturday's action, it was alleged that both cars were fitted with skid blocks that were not in conformity with the issued Vehicle Specification Document (VSD) for the Ford.
Per the report, the "modification was alleged to be machining the skid blocks, so they tapered from rear to front."
A team representative denied that the skid blocks had been machined, and while no breach of rule was established, the absence of the skid blocks as evidence to the allegation, ensured it not been proved.
