Dick Johnson Racing Bathurst 1000 protest dismissed
Brodie Kostecki claimed pole position in Saturday's Shootout
2025 Repco Bathurst 1000 to commence at 11:45am AEDT
The Shell V-Power Racing Team has had a protest dismissed at the Repco Bathurst 1000.
The Ford squad has been on the pace courtesy of the rapid Brodie Kostecki, who soared to a third Great Race pole position on Saturday.
It comes after Kostecki broke the Gen3 qualifying lap record at Mount Panorama in Friday qualifying.
Despite the pace, Kostecki was calling for changes to be made before race day to boost the chances of the Ford package.
DJR submitted a protest on Saturday morning. Motorsport Australia then summoned DJR and Supercars representatives to a stewards’ hearing before the Shootout.
Per the stewards report: “The subject of this Protest is the lack of fairness arising from the decision-making process and failure to implement an engine parity adjustment in the 2025 Repco Bathurst 1000, resulting in a known performance disparity between the Ford and GM engines.”
Stewards advised after Saturday’s Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout that the protest had been dismissed.
Per the report, the protest was deemed "inadmissible," given relief sought by DJR was "beyond the powers of the stewards to grant" and "for this reason itself is good reason to deem the protest inadmissible."
In the hours after the stewards report's release, DJR maintained its position in a team statement, claiming winning on Sunday will require it to be "more extraordinary than ever, as we will do so knowing we're racing with one hand tied behind our back."
Track action on Sunday morning commences with the 20-minute Warm Up at 8:30am AEDT, before the race gets underway at 11:45am.
