David Reynolds, Matt Shirvington locked in for Bathurst rematch
Reynolds to take on Shirvington in pit straight race at Mount Panorama
Car, sprinter went head-to-head in Sydney in February
A rematch of man versus machine has been locked in for the Repco Bathurst 1000, with David Reynolds taking on Matt Shirvington.
Ahead of the upcoming Great Race on October 9-12, which will be broadcast live on the Seven Network, Reynolds and Shirvington have been confirmed for second race.
The 2017 Bathurst 1000 winner defeated former sprinter turned TV host Shirvington at the Thrifty Sydney 500 - Opening Round in February.
The Team 18 car took on Shirvington in a 30-metre race, with Shirvington making a rare sprinting return.
Shirvington, who held the Australian 100-metre national sprint title from 1998 to 2002, fell short to Reynolds, but only just.
On Friday, Team 18 announced Reynolds will race Shirvington again, this time on the biggest stage in Australian motorsport.
It comes as Team 18 announces a new livery for the #20 TRADIE Energy Chevrolet Camaro, which will carry purple hues and zero-sugar G’Day Grape branding.
The livery was revealed at Channel Seven’s Melbourne studios live on Sunrise to announce Reynolds’ rematch race with Shirvington.
Reynolds and Shirvington will face-off on the pit straight of the Mount Panorama circuit on Friday 10 October.

“I can’t wait to take on Shirvo again, last time it was too close to call and I reckon he’s still dining out on that photo finish,” Reynolds said.
"Doing it on the pit straight at Mount Panorama makes it even bigger, so it’ll be a bit of fun before we get stuck into business for the 1000.”
Of the livery, Reynolds added: “It’s awesome to reveal the TRADIE Energy Camaro in purple for Bathurst. TRADIE keep mixing it up with their colours and flavours this year and the G’Day Grape theme looks unreal.
"Bathurst is the biggest race of the year, so it’s the perfect stage to show off something new and bold like this.”
Reynolds and co-driver Lee Holdsworth finished 13th place finish in the Airtouch 500 at The Bend last week.
The Repco Bathurst 1000 gets underway on Thursday October 9. Tickets are on sale now.
