Broc Feeney scorches to third Darwin pole, Jack Le Brocq second
Champ leader in box seat for betr Darwin Triple Crown clean sweep
Anton De Pasquale, Ryan Wood to share second row for Race 19
Broc Feeney has put himself in the box seat for a betr Darwin Triple Crown clean sweep, gapping the field to win the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout.
Twice a winner from pole on Saturday, the Triple Eight Race Engineering star nailed his Shootout lap to clinch the best starting spot for Sunday's 200km Race 19.
Feeney will share the front row with Erebus Motorsport driver Jack Le Brocq, who rebounded from a Saturday crash to clinch second position in the Shootout.
Anton De Pasquale and last man out Ryan Wood will share the second row, with Kai Allen and Matt Payne making it an all-Penrite Racing third row. Cameron Hill, Macauley Jones, Chaz Mostert and Andre Heimgartner completed the 10.
It was another stunning display by Feeney, who now has nine poles and seven wins in 2025.
"I was pretty chuffed with that one, I felt like I was actually struggling a little bit this morning, literally just got into the 10 at the end there on the last lap," the 22-year-old said.
"We went back to yesterday's car and it was awesome. I got through Turn 1 good and I knew the rest of the lap would be all good.
"To do a big lap like that, that's probably one of my best so far this year, so chuffed to get it. My ninth this year, bloody awesome.
"Can't thank all of these guys enough, the car looks fantastic and it's a rocket ship, so going for the big one this arvo."
Ambient temperatures hit 28 degrees as Mostert landed the first blow, a 1:06.7614s despite striking local wildlife through the Esses. Hill jumped ahead at the first time of asking with a 1:06.6595s, with Payne edging further ahead with a 1:06.6537s.
De Pasquale remonstrated over team radio with ongoing clutch issues, but armed with green tyres, laid down a 1:06.4104s for the field to chase.
Heimgartner had little in response on roaded tyres with a 1:06.8645s, before Allen laid down the best Sector 1 and 2 times. However, the teenager lost time at the final corner, and ended up 0.18s behind.
Aboard a rebuilt Chevrolet after a Saturday crash, Le Brocq pipped De Pasquale by 0.097s with a 1:06.3133s, with Feeney, Jones and Wood to come.
The championship leader nailed the fastest time in all three sectors to drop in a 1:06.0680s, with Jones slotting into seventh with a strong final sector.
Wood ran deep at Turn 1 and was forced to play catch-up for the rest of the lap, and despite a strong mid-sector, ended up fourth.
The betr Darwin Triple Crown will conclude with Race 19 at 2:40pm local/3:10pm AEST.
