Craig Lowndes takes son Levi for final Triple Eight Supercar laps
Lowndes completed emotional final day as Triple Eight driver on Monday
Seven-time Bathurst champ remains with GM, joins Team 18 in 2026
An emotional final day as a Triple Eight Race Engineering driver has featured a surprise for Craig Lowndes.
Lowndes, 51, will depart the Ford-bound team after a decorated 20-year run.
Three-time series champion Lowndes will remain with General Motors in 2026, having signed a wildcard deal with Team 18. Lowndes’ commitment to GM came after Triple Eight announced its blockbuster switch to Ford at the start of the year.
The Supercars Hall of Famer joined Triple Eight in 2005, and won the Bathurst 1000 six times with the Brisbane squad between 2006 and 2018.
Lowndes’ final laps with the team came at Monday’s ride day at Sandown Raceway, where he had a surprise passenger waiting for him — his son, Levi.

Father and son took a Triple Eight Chevrolet, complete with the #888, for a spin in the afternoon, with Lowndes senior taking in the moment.
In an emotional moment, Triple Eight staff welcomed Lowndes back into the pit bay with a guard of honour, before Lowndes embraced his crew.
In typical Lowndes fashion, the team had to wait just a little longer than planned, as Lowndes continued on for an additional lap, just to soak up the feeling.
Last month, the 110-time Supercars race winner finished his final Bathurst as a Triple Eight driver in 10th, racing with 2024 Super2 champion Zach Bates.
The 2026 Repco Supercars Championship will be the first since 2004 without Lowndes or Jamie Whincup — who stepped back from co-driving — behind the wheel.
The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship conclude at the bp Adelaide Grand Final on November 27-30.
