Reaching the 100-podium mark has left two-time Bathurst winner Chaz Mostert "humbled," with the Walkinshaw Andretti United joining a very exclusive club.

Mostert opened his 2025 Repco Supercars Championship account with finishes of second, fourth and third at the Thrifty Sydney 500 - Opening Round, leaving the weekend third overall.

The 32-year-old's charge from 10th to third in Sunday came with extra weight, with Mostert becoming just the eighth driver in ATCC/Supercars Championship history to record 100 podiums.

Mostert's first podium was also his first win, as a 21-year-old rookie at Queensland Raceway for Dick Johnson Racing in 2013. He added then a second at Winton, before scoring 51 podiums for Ford Performance Racing/Tickford Racing between 2014 and 2019.

Into his sixth season with WAU, he has 48 podiums, 12 coming last season.

Before Sunday, only seven drivers in the 65-year history of the championship had scored 100 or more podium finishes, with Garth Tander the last with his 2022 Bathurst win.

Supercars Hall of Famer Jamie Whincup leads the way with 239, ahead of three-time champ turned NASCAR driver Shane van Gisbergen (177), Craig Lowndes (169) and Mark Winterbottom (120).

Three-time champion and current IndyCar star Scott McLaughlin recorded 106 podiums between 2013 and 2020, 80 coming in his four years with DJR Team Penske between 2017 and 2020.

“Well what a weekend, three races with a second, third and fourth, can’t complain about that," Mostert said.

“We didn’t make it easy for ourselves starting 10th today, but overall it was a pretty positive weekend to get the year underway.

“Lots of work and lots of data to go through before the next one, I’ll work working Scaff [Race Engineer Sam Scaffidi] hard over the next few weeks so we can be back up the front.

"It’s pretty special to celebrate 100 podiums today, it’s really humbling to be honest, something I never dreamed of achieving, something I am going to reflect on pretty proudly in the future, but for now let's keep adding to it."

Cam Waters will carry a 60-point lead over reigning champion Will Brown to the next round in Melbourne. Mostert and Broc Feeney are third and fourth, 65 and 99 points down.

The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the Melbourne SuperSprint, which will feature at the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Australian Grand Prix 2025 on March 13-16.
