Championship, Bathurst victories biggest pressure Brodie Kostecki has been under
Kostecki moved to Dick Johnson Racing from Erebus Motorsport for 2025 and beyond
DJR arguably Supercars' most supported team, yet team is winless since 2023
Brodie Kostecki has acknowledged the immense pride of being a leading light for Dick Johnson Racing and Ford, but insists there was no greater pressure than championship or Bathurst victory.
Kostecki arrived in 2025 as Ford’s newest star signing, with the 2023 Supercars champion joining the Shell V-Power Racing Team in a major driver move.
The arrival of the reigning Bathurst champion offered plenty of hope to DJR and Ford fans, with the team delivering the Blue Oval’s most recent championship and Bathurst wins, courtesy of Scott McLaughlin.
DJR is among the best-supported, if not best supported team in Supercars, with Kostecki’s signing signalling a new era for the team.
Through four rounds in 2025, though, Kostecki and Will Davison remain winless, with two podiums — coming in the same race in New Zealand — to the team’s name so far. The team is also under the microscope in Perth this weekend after Kostecki and Davison were 23rd and 24th for the round in Tasmania.
When asked if he is feeling the weight of the pressure of DJR and Ford fans on The Drivers Seat radio show, Kostecki said: “No, I don't think so.
"To be honest, I think I've been under the most amount of pressure you could ever be under, being able to win a championship in 2023 and obviously Bathurst '24, so don't really worry about that stuff too much.
“It's been great. Obviously, not only joining DJR, but they have such a great fan base and our teammates are fantastic as well. It’s been really great to experience.
“We had an open day at the start of the year and seeing the turnout that we had there was absolutely insane. So yeah, very, very thankful to be driving for this team with such a rich history and hopefully I can add to it.”
Kostecki also hailed the impact of Davison, with the duo set to go around again for DJR in 2026 as the Ford squad hunts stability.
Davison is winless since September 2022, with DJR winless since July 2023.
“He's been around a long time and he's been through different faces in the sport as well,” Kostecki said of Davison.
“He’s always got great advice… I really enjoyed New Zealand with him, that double podium was really, really cool.
“Obviously the team's gone through a bit of hardship the last few years to what their standard normally is.. we’ve still got a lot of work to be done and we work pretty hard behind the scenes.”
The 2025 season resumes in Kostecki’s native Perth this weekend, with track action commencing on Friday with two 30-minute practice sessions.
