Contract extension "easy" for Brodie Kostecki, a "priority" for DJR
Kostecki extends with the Shell V-Power Racing Team until 2030
2023 champion won two races, claimed four poles this season
Extending Brodie Kostecki’s stay with the Shell V-Power Racing Team was a “priority” for the Ford squad, says Executive Chairman Dr Ryan Story.
Dick Johnson Racing dropped a silly season bombshell on the eve of the 2025 Supercars season finale, signing Kostecki through to the end of 2030.
It marks a major vote of confidence for both driver and team, which is barely one season into its relationship. It also ties Kostecki to Ford and Supercars for the long-term, with the West Aussie driver to be aged 33 when his new deal expires.
Kostecki was signed to help return pride and results to DJR, which had gone four years without championship glory since Scott McLaughlin and Penske departed.
While the wait will go on until 2026 at the latest, Story insisted Kostecki’s extension is a sign that DJR remains set on building the newest championship story in its illustrious history.
“We’re genuine in our belief about the team’s future and securing this new deal with Brodie allows us to build further on the foundations we’ve set in 2025,” Story said.
“Brodie’s speed, his engineering mindset and the stability he brings to the team — it all provide us with the tools we need to genuinely challenge for championships and show the rest of the pit lane what the Shell V-Power Racing Team is capable of.
“This contract extension was certainly a priority for us and we know based on what we’ve seen in 2025 that we can build something special around one of the sport’s best drivers as we write the next chapter in Dick Johnson Racing’s unrivalled history.”
The announcement comes after the Shell V-Power Racing Team signed Super2 Series leader Rylan Gray for 2026.
With Ford homologation duties shifting to Triple Eight Race Engineering, DJR is now free to swing at the championship in 2026, with Kostecki and Gray forming one of the most exciting combinations on the grid.
Kostecki said: "Extending here was an easy decision because I can see where this team is heading.
"We've got the right people, the right infrastructure, and now the right timeline to build something special.
"The next five years are about winning championships, and I want to be the one delivering them for Dick, the Doc [Story], the Ralph family, and everyone at the Shell V-Power Racing Team."
