Overnight engine change for Broc Feeney Triple Eight Camaro
Feeney beaten on Sunday by teammate Will Brown, who started 15th
Triple Eight star not leading championship for first time since May
Broc Feeney will look to secure his bp Adelaide Grand Final berth with a new engine following an overnight change by Triple Eight Race Engineering at Sandown.
The erstwhile points leader came home fourth in Saturday’s Penrite Oil Sandown 500 opener, behind Chaz Mostert, teammate Will Brown and Ryan Wood.
Starting seventh, Feeney was third behind the two WAU Fords before Brown came home with a wet sail. Brown was a lowly 15th in qualifying, but vaulted to second, powering past Feeney in the final stint.
Feeney won nine of the last 11 races of the Repco Sprint Cup, but remains winless since. Across The Bend, Bathurst, Gold Coast and Sandown, Feeney has gone 19th, sixth, second, second and fourth.
While also wanting to give themselves the best chance possible on Sunday, it's understood Triple Eight believed the #88's engine was down on power.

The engine was changed, and the team ran it up on Sunday morning ahead of Boost Mobile Qualifying at 11:20am.
Feeney lost the lead to Mostert, albeit by just three points. Mostert and Feeney are 75 and 72 points clear of fourth-placed Matt Payne, with Brown third.
"The race was a big unknown. I got a good start, but then just had to settle it into a rhythm and go around for a bit,” said Feeney, who insisted he won’t play defensive on Sunday.
"At the back end of the first stint and in the middle part of the race I felt really competitive. I felt like we were able to get back up into third and hold station with the WAU guys who were out in front and doing fast laps.
"But then I just struggled a little bit towards the end of that last stint, struggled a lot. Obviously Will was really fast and he went by us on his way to chase those other cars down.
"There's lots to learn from that side of the garage in how they've turned on the speed in that car, Will was fast.
"Not overly happy with our day, disappointing to be a bit off but overall we got some decent points to stay where we need to be on the leaderboard. I just, I want to win races again.
"We haven't been the most competitive for the last couple of rounds, we've been getting beaten by WAU, so we'll make some changes overnight and try and win a race tomorrow."
It was still a day to celebrate for Red Bull Ampol Racing, which clinched the 2025 teams' championship with four races to spare. The team leads its closest rival, Penrite Racing, by 948 points with 876 remaining.
Sunday's action commences with Boost Mobile Qualifying at 11:20am local time, followed by the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout at 12:10pm. Race 31, at 3:20pm, will decide the Grand Final field.
