Zach Bates to run tribute sticker for late mother Alison 'Ali' Drower in Bathurst debut
Popular media personality passed away last week after cancer battle
Reigning Super2 champion Bates set for double duty between main game and Dunlop Series
Zach Bates will be carrying a special tribute as he makes his Repco Bathurst 1000 debut this weekend for Triple Eight.
The covers came off a special farewell livery for co-driver Craig Lowndes this morning in Bathurst, with Lowndes making his final career start for the Banyo operation after a 21-year stint with the team.
However, also revealed on the c-pillars of the #888 Camaro was a tribute sticker for Bates' mother and popular media personality Alison 'Ali' Drower, who passed away last week following a battle with cancer.
Cousins Harry and Lewis Bates, who both compete for Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia in the Australian Rally Championship, also ran tribute stickers for Drower at last weekend's Adelaide Hills Rally.
Bates wrote a heartfelt tribute to his mother last week on social media, saying: "Mum, our best friend, the most incredible, beautiful mum and wife we could ever ask for. I am the proudest son.
"The world will not be the same without you, the amazing energy and joy that you brought to so many people cannot be replaced. I was so so lucky to have the most incredible 21 years with you.
"You brought “fabulous” everywhere. You showed me how to treat and love others, but most importantly how to make the most of every single day.
"Your fight and determination is truly inspiring, and you will be with us every single day. It is only a goodbye for now."
On-track action begins on Thursday at Mount Panorama.
