Triple Eight pays tribute to Craig Lowndes with livery tweak
Lowndes to farewell Triple Eight after this weekend’s Bathurst 1000
Lowndes won Bathurst six times with Triple Eight
Craig Lowndes’s final Supercars start with Triple Eight Race Engineering will come with a subtle nod to the seven-time Bathurst champion.
Lowndes will partner rising star Zach Bates in the team’s Supercheap Auto wildcard Chevrolet Camaro at this weekend’s Repco Bathurst 1000.
The October 9-12 event will be Lowndes’s last with Triple Eight, 20 years after he made his debut with the team in 2005.
Between 2005 and 2018, Lowndes raced full-time for the team, winning Bathurst six times. After shifting to co-driver duties, he added a Sandown 500 win with Jamie Whincup in 2019.
Lowndes has led Triple Eight’s enduro wildcard program since 2022, and delivered the best Bathurst wildcard result — eighth with Declan Fraser — in 2022.
Ahead of this weekend’s round, Triple Eight revealed a tweaked livery for the #888, which features subtle nods to the Team Vodafone Commodores raced by Lowndes and Whincup in 2012.

Lowndes won seven races in 2012, including the Sandown 500, en route to second overall behind champion Whincup.
The livery was launched at a fan event in Bathurst on Tuesday.
"As much as Bathurst is about the race it’s about the fans,” Whincup, also Triple Eight’s boss, said.
"The fans remember the race, the cars, the drives as much as the result each year and there’ve been too many iconic moments at Bathurst to count. Craig in his time with Triple Eight has been a part of so many of those iconic moments.
"Twenty years with one team isn’t something that happens often in sport and we’ve been fortunate enough to ride the highs and lows with Craig over that time in what’ll end up being one of the most memorable legacies in motorsport.
"The car looks great as a throwback to one of the team’s and Craig’s iconic cars. Craig and Zach have come through QR and The Bend together ready to race. We will, Zach will and we know Craig will attack the Mountain the same way he always has.”
The new-look Lowndes/Bates Camaro will hit the track at the Mountain on Thursday.
