Supercars legend Seton's 'exciting' career move
Supercars Hall of Famer Glenn Seton will return to the fold as a race engineer for Matt Stone Racing.
Seton, who won the Australian Touring Car Championship in 1993 and 1997, will skipper team co-owner Jason Gomersall's Super3 entry.
Gomersall will steer an ex-Stone Brothers Racing Ford Falcon FG.
Seton is one of Ford's favourite sons, having recorded several key successes for the brand in the 1990s.
He is also no stranger to SBR machinery, steering an SBR Falcon to third at Bathurst alongside James Courtney in 2006.
Seton, whose son Aaron will steer a Sherrin Rentals-backed Commodore in this year’s Dunlop Super2 Series, was excited to get stuck into engineering Gomersall's campaign.
Seton junior ran his #30 car at Queensland Raceway on Wednesday, with the team’s main game young guns Jake Kostecki and Zane Goddard also turning laps.
"Naturally the car I am working on is from my era of racing. It is a Project Blueprint-spec car which has the live diff rear and is the same one that I raced my whole career," he said.
"It's always good to come back to Ford, as between myself and my dad's career we have spent majority of our time racing in Ford cars.
"To continue supporting the Ford badge and to be here, helping out Jason, and to be a part of MSR's support program is really exciting."
Gomersall was keen to begin his own campaign, and couldn't hide his excitement at having both Setons in the MSR family.
He will run backing from UNIT in 2021, which also sponsors Kostecki's main game entry.
"I am really excited to be back in the Super3 field again this year and to have Aaron Seton join the team in Super2 for a full season after a very interrupted season in 2020 with COVID," he said.
"There have been a few other changes in our support team at MSR with Glenn Seton and Dean Canto engineering our two cars in Super2 and Super3 for Bathurst.
"The whole MSR support crew are really looking forward to working with Glenn and Dean this year, a couple of guys with an amazing amount of experience around Bathurst.
"I’ll definitely be looking to pick their brains on the track walk when we arrive at Bathurst."

Long-time MSR engineer Sheldon Auhl will also return for 2021, but will miss pre-season Super2 testing at Queensland Raceway and the opening round in Bathurst amid the recent Western Australia lockdown situation, and the impending birth of his first child.
As a result, decorated Supercars veteran Dean Canto will step in to fill Auhl's place before returning as engineer for Chris Smerdon, MSR's second Super3 driver.
