Enduro Cup redemption for Will Brown, Scott Pye in 2026
Brown/Pye fourth at The Bend, second in Bathurst 1000
Brown/Pye topped 2024 enduro points, when trophy wasn't recognised
Two out of three ain’t bad for Will Brown and Scott Pye, even if only one of them is officially in the record books.
Brown and Pye powered their #888 Red Bull Ampol Ford to second in Sunday's Repco Bathurst 1000, backing up their fourth at the AirTouch 500 at The Bend.
It was more than enough to clinch the Ryco Enduro Cup, which helped Brown not only move to fourth in the championship, but third for the Finals opener, courtesy of bonus points.
The Brown/Pye pairing has been one of the form combinations of the last three years, racing to victory in the 2024 Sandown 500, and third at Bathurst just weeks later.
Those results helped them score more enduro points than anyone else in 2024 — but the caveat? The Enduro Cup wasn’t formally recognised in 2024.
In 2026, they scored big, and this time, got the trophy.
"Obviously, massive day. You know, to come second was awesome,” Brown said.
"I really thought after the first stint we had a better car and could have actually fought for the win, but unfortunately Brodie's car was just so fast with him behind the wheel and when it got up and going it really got going.
"Tough day but it's a bit of a bittersweet one. All you want to do is win Bathurst, but we ended up coming out of this week with the Enduro Cup, the points that go with that leading in to the Finals.
"We've set ourselves up really well here for the Finals, for the Gold Coast. We're going back to Brisbane now for a week then heading down the M1 to somewhere where we know how to race fast and race well.”
Pye was pleased with another Bathurst podium — his fourth — but admitted finishing runner-up, as he did in 2017 and 2018, came with a bit of "hurt."
"Today, I felt amazing, honestly. Then again all weekend I've felt amazing, I thought the car was great, it felt ready,” Pye said.
"Started the race and got off to a good start, but then during it really had some issues with blistering tyres which I think the #88 had as well. That's probably where our race came undone for a bit there.
"Stoked to come away with second... three time runner-up though now at Bathurst and it's starting to hurt a bit. So it just makes me even hungrier to come back here in the future with this amazing team and try and get the W.
"Enduro Cup win, we got that locked in today with that second place which is great for us and great for Will with the way the Finals go now. So I'm proud of that, proud to contribute to Will's championship again."
