Eggleston Motorsport has confirmed that Matt McLean will miss the third round of the Dunlop Super2 Series at next weekend’s NTI Townsville 500.

Mclean, who openly admits he goes event to event financially, will miss the upcoming development series round at Reid Park.

Matt McLean wins 2021 Mike Kable Young Gun Award

Eggleston Motorsport has confirmed the reigning Mike Kable Young Gun Award winner is still firmly part of their future plans.

“It’s certainly very disappointing for both sides,” Eggleston Motorsport co-owner and manager Rachael Eggleston told Supercars.com.

“It’s only a one-round thing and Matt will be back in a car at Sandown.

“We are all looking forward to seeing Matt back in the car for Sandown, Bathurst and Adelaide.”

Mclean, who topped both opening practice sessions at the Dunlop Series events in Sydney and Perth earlier this season, recently returned to the Australian Karting Championships.

The three-time karting champion finished his maiden Super2 season fifth in the standings, recording four top 10 results.

Tim Blanchard has been confirmed to drive the #54 Eggleston Motorsport Commodore in Townsville with teammate Cameron Crick to contest the round as planned.

A 32-car combined field has been confirmed for the round, with 15 Super3 cars to compete at Reid Park.
