The stewards’ report has revealed how Chaz Mostert and Cam Waters both escaped penalty for respective run-ins with Thomas Randle and Shane van Gisbergen in Race 20.

Mostert and Waters both put on forceful moves en route to second and fourth in the OTR SuperSprint opener.

The battle for victory included Brodie Kostecki, who emerged ahead of the squabbling Randle and Mostert after his pit stop.

Mostert put a big move on the #55 Castrol Mustang at Turn 6, and appeared to run Randle wide as they rounded the turn.

Randle remonstrated over team radio, with Mostert racing away to his third podium in five starts aboard the #25 Mobil 1 Optus Ford.

The report reads: An allegation by Tickford Racing that Car 25 pushed Car 55 off the edge of the race track at the exit of turn 6 when Car 25 made an overtaking move on Car 55 on the inside. Video evidence revealed that Car 25 made minor contact with Car 55 after the apex of turn 6 and although this had the consequence of crowding Car 55 wide, Car 55 lost the position because the concrete apron on the exit of the turn finished early and Car 55 had insufficient space to hold position on the outside to have the inside line for turn 7.

Earlier in the race, Waters made an overtake for fourth on van Gisbergen into Turns 13 and 14, with contact moving the #97 Red Bull Ampol Camaro wide.

Van Gisbergen also remonstrated over the contact, and came home fifth behind Waters. The stewards stated van Gisbergen had moved across the front of the #6 Monster Energy Ford.

Per the report, the matter was not referred to them by the Deputy Race Director (listed as David Mori, James Delzoppo) and Driving Standards Advisor Craig Baird.

The report reads: An allegation by Triple Eight Racing that Car 6 gained an unfair advantage from avoidable contact with Car 97 at turn 14 as a result of which Car 6 gained a position. Video footage showed that Car 6 had slight overlap on Car 97 and Car 97 moved slightly across the front of Car 6 and minor contact resulted. No breach of the Rules by the Driver of Car 6 was observed.

No penalties were handed out, with the report also detailing the ruling on the lap 1 incident that sent Will Brown (#9 Coca-Cola Camaro), Cameron Hill (#35 Truck Assist Camaro) and Jack Smith (#4 SCT Logistics Camaro) into retirement.

Brown was turned in front of the field, with Hill and Smith picking up heavy front-end damage to their Chevrolets.

The stewards report reads: An Incident at turn 1 on Lap 1 involving multiple Cars. Footage showed that Car 11 made minor contact with the rear of Car 9 at the entry to turn 1 which unsettled Car 9. At the apex of the turn, Car 2 was on the inside and Car 34 filled the gap between Cars 9 and 2. Because Car 9 was unsettled from the contact by Car 11, Car 9 had oversteer which caused it to move across the front of Car 34 and contact occurred causing Car 9 to spin. Car 34 had left room for Car 9 on the outside. The DSA considered that no Driver was wholly or predominantly to blame for the Incident.

Supercars will return to the track on Sunday morning for ARMOR ALL Qualifying for Races 21 and 22.
