Shane van Gisbergen wants to see Broc Feeney tackle NASCAR
Feeney has won 12 of 24 races, claimed 13 of 25 pole positions on offer
Triple Eight locked himself into Supercars Finals last weekend
Shane van Gisbergen is keen to get former teammate Broc Feeney into a NASCAR amid the latter’s extraordinary performance in 2025.
Triple Eight Race Engineering star Feeney has beaten all comers so far this season in Supercars, taking 12 of 24 wins, and 13 of 25 pole positions on offer.
The 22-year-old took out the Repco Sprint Cup in a canter, and became the first driver to officially lock himself into The Finals.
Feeney’s impressive performance caught the attention of van Gisbergen, who was the rising star’s teammate at Triple Eight in 2022 and 2023.
Van Gisbergen himself has been in the headlines, having won four consecutive NASCAR Cup Series races on road courses to propel himself into the Playoffs.
While falling short of a NASCAR deal for this year, Feeney dashed to the US to catch up with van Gisbergen, who believes his former teammate would make some noise in NASCAR.
"There’s a guy who was my teammate, Broc Feeney, he's killing it,” van Gisbergen said on Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s podcast.
“He loves it. He’s on the ovals all the time iRacing, watching all the ovals, texting me all the time. I think he would be really good.”
Feeney, who recently signed a contract extension with Triple Eight through 2029, is as versatile as they come. Notably, he has outperformed GT3 stars at the Bathurst 12 Hour in recent years, and also stunned on open wheel debut with pole in the New Zealand Grand Prix.
“I’ve been trying to get him into a road course race with Kaulig, now they that they’ve got some spare seats. He would be a really, really good guy to bring over,” van Gisbergen added.
“You see Cam Waters, he came and did some Truck races, he’s struggling, but with time he’d be good, he’s a massive talent.
“It’s a big commitment to bring someone over, but I hope someone else tries it."
The 2025 Repco Supercars Championship shifts to Enduro Cup mode at the AirTouch 500 at The Bend on September 12-14, followed by the Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 9-12. Tickets are on sale now.
