Nissan Motorsport boss Todd Kelly is confident the JackDaniels and Norton 360 Altimas will be on the pace in the MSS Security V8Supercars Challenge at the Rolex Formula One Australian Grand Prix after apositive first outing in Adelaide.
Kelly is looking forward to the challenge of the spectacularAlbert Park circuit where the Nissan team will capitalise on a successful debutin V8 Supercars.
"We really started to get a good feel of the car atClipsal before the incident in the second race and I was really enjoyingdriving it," Todd Kelly said.
"The handling was very good and it was reallyresponsive to the changes I was making inside the car over the stint, so Ithink we have a great race car.
"I can't wait to get to Albert Park, it's one of myfavourite tracks and a much different style of circuit compared to Clipsal.”
He did admit that power was a problem at the Clipsal 500 butthat the team is working day and night to challenge in Melbourne.
“Our pace isn’t too bad everywhere, the biggest problem isthe up straights,” Kelly told this week’s edition of Auto Action.
“You can see on all the sector times that’s where we’relosing a reasonable chuck, just with not having enough time to develop ourengine.”
Kelly said he was disappointed to be unable to finish therace after a power steering hose failure, but is happy with the team’s results.
“We certainly beat a lot of cars out there that, in theorywith where we’re at, we shouldn’t have. To just finish alone is a fantasticresult.”
Both the MSS Security V8 Supercars Challenge and theUltimate Speed Comparison will take place on all four event days at the 2013Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix. For more information on tickets pleaseclick here: grandprix.com.au
