Triple Eight star Will Brown confirms 2025 NASCAR Cup Series start
Brown to race for Chevrolet team Kaulig Racing in Chicago street race
Reigning champion to take on Shane van Gisbergen, who won '23 race
Kaulig Racing team owner Matt Kaulig believes Supercars champion Will Brown can help the team challenge for victory on the streets of Chicago.
It will be the second Cup start for Brown, who made his debut in a Richard Childress Racing Camaro at Sonoma Raceway last June.
Brown will race a third Kaulig Racing Camaro, joining road course specialist AJ Allmendinger and Ty Dillon.
The Kaulig team has just two wins in the Cup Series, both achieved by Allmendinger. He won the road course race at Indianapolis in 2021, and on the Charlotte 'Roval' road course in 2023.
Brown has been the form driver since replacing van Gisbergen at Triple Eight, claiming 34 top 10 finishes in 36 starts, and famously winning the 2024 Adelaide 500 despite being turned around early in the race.
Kaulig is hoping Brown can emulate van Gisbergen's 2023 heroics, when the then Supercars star took out the inaugural Chicago street race in a stunning boilover. On that day, Kaulig Racing finished second with Justin Haley.
“This is an amazing opportunity for Kaulig Racing to compete for a win in one of the most prestigious events on the calendar," Kaulig said.
“We are so excited to have Will race with us and compete for the trophy. The team is ready, and we know he has the talent.”
Brown follows former co-driver Jack Perkins in securing NASCAR action in 2025. Broc Feeney and Cam Waters have also been linked to drives, in Cup and Xfinity respectively.
The Triple Eight star is 33 points behind teammate Feeney heading to Perth on June 6-8. International viewers can watch the action on SuperView.
