A 20-minute qualifying session will determine ARMOR ALL Pole Position and the grid for this afternoon's 60/60 Super Sprint race.
Three of the six 60/60 Super Sprint races have been run in the 2013 Championship season – and interestingly no one has won from pole, and no one who has led at the half time break has won the race.
Lockwood Racing's Fabian Coulthard won the first (Tasmania), and Red Bull Racing Australia pair Craig Lowndes (Perth) and Jamie Whincup (Darwin) have recorded 60/60 wins.
Lowndes is hot favourite for this weekend's races, given his record of five straight races and 11 overall wins at the circuit – which RBRA tested at last week. The second highest number of wins here belongs to Holden Racing Team's Garth Tander, who has five to his name.
Three different drivers have topped Practice this weekend, with Tim Slade, David Reynolds and Will Davison quickest yesterday and earlier today.
The session is underway, Whincup the first to record a time, a 1min10.0446.
Five minutes in and Whincup leads Todd Kelly, Rick Kelly, Webb, Reynolds, and Will Davison in sixth.
Lee Holdsworth is the first driver into the 1min09s, recording a 1min09.9627. Erebus Motorsport V8 teammate Tim Slade goes one better 1min09.7539 to the top of teh times.
Winterbottom, McLaughlin and Lowndes into the top four, behind Slade.
Premat jumps into third with 11 mins to go.
Bright to the top with a 1min09.4932. P2 is teammate Coulthard – he and the next six drivers are separated by one hundredth of a second.
Less than 10 to go and plenty of changes at the top. Bright followed by Courtney, Will Davison, Coulthard, Van Gisbergen, Winterbottom, Slade, Reynolds, Premat, McLaughlin.
Courtney to the top with a 1min09.4914 – just 0.0018sec quicker than Bright. His teammate Tander only managing 11th for now.
Lowndes in 12th and Whincup 16th with under seven minutes to go.
Top 13 all in the pits at the moment with only five cars out on track and six mins to go.
Scott Pye, in 28th, the only car more than a second adrift of the leader.
Just over three minutes to go and Coulthard goes to the top.
Whincup down in 18th looks to be on a fast lap.
Todd Kelly into the fourth position, very positive for Nissan Motorsport.
Whincup records a 1min09.2730, the fastest of the session.
McLaughlin second with 1min45 to go.
Courtney had dropped to ninth but records a quicker time for fourth. Lowndes on position behind.
Chequered flag is out. A few cars still on a lap.
Whincup on ARMOR ALL Pole Position for Race 22 later this afternoon. McLaughlin will start next to him on the front row, followed by Coulthard, Winerbottom, Courtney, Lowndes, Reynolds, van Gisbergen, Slade and Will Davison.
Bright in 11th, Todd Kelly first of the Nissans in 14th, Tander 19th.
