Lap by Lap: Qualifying 21
There's just the one session today to qualify for the 200km second race at the Sucrogen Townsville 400.
20 minutes on hard tyres – will Shane van Gisbergen manage the quickest time again? Cars are already on track. Will Red Bull Racing Australia bounce back?
Will Davison – yesterday's winner – has set the fastest time, with a 1min15.4106. Reynolds and Mostert follow, five minutes into the ARMOR ALL Qualifying session.
Ingall to the top and the first driver to record a time in the 14s – 1min14.7625.
Changes at the top with James Courtney leading Lowndes and Whincup. Around 13 mins to go.
McLaughlinn's now at the top and all top 10 cars have recorded times in the 14s.
Tander also in the top 10, into eighth. Eleven minutes to go.
Just under 10 to go and Davison and McLaughlin trade times at the top. Tander also buys in and pops into second.
Winterbottom in the garage, currently 16th quickest, while his teammate is the quickest.
Fujitsu GRM cars three and four. Interestingly, three FPR cars in the top 10, but not Winterbottom yet.
Just over six minutes to go and only two drivers are on track. Russell Ingall has broken a shock.
Cars are filing out of pitlane. Just under four mins to go.
Red flag with 2min59 to go.

Winterbottom to the top with 20 secs to go. Davison on a fast lap as well.
Under investigation – car 1, Jamie Whincup, for unsafe release. Whincup is in 15th.
Winterbottom takes pole, ahead of McLaughlin, Reynolds, Tander, Lowndes, Alex Davison, D'Alberto, Courtney, Will Davison and Premat.
Others to note are Coulthard 11th, Rick Kelly 12th, Slade 13th, Bright 17th, Van Gisbergen (yesterday's pole sitter) 21st.
