Kiwi has tumbled out of any Finals contention after shocking six-race run
  • Jaxon Evans recorded his fifth zero-point race in past six starts

  • Evans in rebuilt 2024 chassis after heavy Darwin crash

The opening rounds of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship were full of promise for Jaxon Evans and SCT Logistics Racing.

Following a trying rookie season that ended early after a massive qualifying crash in Adelaide last year, Evans started 2025 in fine style with a top 10 finish in Race 2 in Sydney.

Evans claimed two further top 10's and an 11th at the fourth round in Tasmania, and was sitting 16th in points at the conclusion of the Symmons Plains weekend 145 points behind 10th in the Finals chase.

However, since then, the last six races have been nothing short of a disaster for the 28-year-old with the following results: DNF, 12th, DNF, DNS, DNS, DNF.

After copping the worst of a Lap 1 concertina today, Evans has now plummeted to be 337 points outside the Finals bubble, and 22nd in points.

"Obviously we were starting up the back, so I could see everything unfolding in front," said Evans after his latest result.

"The inside line stacked up pretty quickly, and tried to avoid it and rode over the wheel of Murray. Broke the steering, obviously did some damage and spent the race in the garage.

"It's a shame, didn't have a great Darwin, and it's not how we wanted to start this weekend. Thankful to the BJR guys for getting me back out there, but it's super frustrating."

BJR pushed hard to get Evans back out on track, which they successfully did, however they could not complete the 75% distance required to be classified.

As such, the BJR crew performed a pit stop in the car to boost their Pirtek Pit Stop Challenge hopes, before retiring the car to the garage having only completed four laps.

"Yeah most definitely, the crew were trying their hardest to get me out no matter what. We couldn't score any points, but it's the small wins," the Kiwi said.

"I'm glad that we were able to do a decent pit stop for them, and it made it a bit better for me being able to go out and circulate and make sure the car was fine before we reset and go again tomorrow."

On-track action tomorrow begins with Boost Mobile Qualifying at 10:00am AEST, before the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout at 12:05pm AEST, and Race 21 at 3:00pm AEST.
