Extra parts on the way for next round of Gen3 testing
The success of this week's round of testing of the upgraded Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the Ford Mustang GT Gen3 prototypes will see development move into its next phase.
Both Gen3 prototypes had received upgrades to their suspension package and several mechanical components ahead of the first round of testing at Queensland Raceway.
Following two days of testing, extra parts are now being shipped in over the coming days for the Gen3 prototypes.
More tests were originally planned for Monday and Tuesday; however, those tests will be pushed back a week as the Supercars Gen3 team works through the analysis captured from the first tests of 2022.
"Extra parts continue to arrive and over the coming days will be placed in both cars, while extra analysis is being undertaken on key components following this week's successful testing at QR," a Supercars spokesperson said.
"For that reason, we have decided to push the next round of testing back by a week."
The two test days marked the first major outing for the Gen3 prototypes since they were unveiled at December's Repco Bathurst 1000.
This week's testing was centred on mileage, ergonomics, and helping drivers get a feel for the new cars and how they compare to the current Gen2 cars.
The next round of tests is now scheduled to begin on February 1 at Queensland Raceway.
Both test days are open for public viewing at the Ipswich venue.
The Gen3 Camaro and Mustang will make their racing debut in the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship.
On-track exhibitions of the Gen3 cars will be carried out at Supercars events throughout this year.
