Anton De Pasquale has helped the Shell V-Power Racing Team to its fifth straight ARMOR ALL Pole Champion Award.

De Pasquale scored his 10th pole of the 2021 season at the BP Ultimate Sydney SuperSprint on Sunday.

It’s just the 10th instance in ATCC/Supercars history that a driver has claimed 10 or more poles in a season.

De Pasquale missed out on the second Sunday pole, which went to Jamie Whincup.

However, with Whincup outqualifying van Gisbergen twice, De Pasquale has been able to clinch the pole award ahead of next week's fourth Sydney event.

Scott McLaughlin won the ARMOR ALL Pole Champion Award in each season he raced for the Shell Ford squad.

McLaughlin claimed a record 16 poles in 2017, 13 in 2018, and 15 in the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

Whincup scored 13 poles in 2013, and 10 in 2010 and 2014.

McLaughlin also recorded 10 poles in 2014 aboard his Garry Rogers Motorsport Volvo, with Chaz Mostert claiming 10 in 2015 for Prodrive Racing Australia.

With just three poles left to claim this season, De Pasquale has an unassailable lead heading to next weekend’s Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight.

Only van Gisbergen could prevent De Pasquale from claiming the award.

The series leader entered Sunday on six poles for the season.

Eight drivers have taken poles in 2021, with five of them - De Pasquale, van Gisbergen, Cameron Waters, Whincup and Will Davison - claiming more than one.

De Pasquale has taken six of the nine poles on offer at Sydney Motorsport Park in 2021.

Brown and van Gisbergen disrupted De Pasquale’s run at last week’s ARMOR ALL Sydney SuperNight, before Whincup helped himself to a 92nd career pole on Sunday.

Cars will return to the track for Race 27 at 1:50pm AEDT, followed by Race 28 at 4:45pm.
