The ‘sold out’ signs were placed at the entrance gates ofthe 2013 Clipsal 500 Adelaide today shortly after Race 2 of the V8 SupercarsChampionship had commenced.
With an attendance of 95,000 in the venue well before tonight’sconcert featuring super groups Kiss and Motley Crue, South Australian MotorSport Board Chief Executive Mark Warren said he had “to hang out the full housesign”.
‘It’s not something an event organiser ever really wantsto do, but it does demonstrate just how successful the event has been.
It’s the fifteenth year of V8 Supercars on our circuitand it’s the first time we have ever had a full house, and as far as I recallit’s the first time this has ever occurred at a domestic motor sport event’.
Today’s figure of 95,000 is the largest Sunday attendancein the event’s history.
The total attendance at this year’s event is 286,500.
Mr Warren said that the new V8 Supercar of the futurewith Nissan and AMG Mercedes Benz joining Holden and Ford in the Championship, attractions such as gymkhana master Ken Block, and a concert line-up featuringthe Hilltop Hoods, Ian Moss and The Angels, and Kiss and Motley Crue had madeit an outstanding event.
‘The fans have voted and voted hard with their attendanceat this year’s event, by turning up in such vast numbers.
