Today, Fiat Chrysler Group (FCG) announced their Chrysler brand is the official sponsor of the Pedders STP Safety and Course Cars for the 2013 and 2014 V8 Supercars Championship, with Damian White, Head of Motorsport for V8 Supercars, unveiling the Chrysler 300 SRT8 on Channel Seven’s Sunrise in Sydney’s Martin Place this morning.
The two year commitment signifies an exciting venture for the company as they re-enter the V8 motorsport program after a 5 year hiatus.
Sam Tabart, Director of Marketing at the Fiat Chrysler Group said, “We’re excited to add V8 Supercars to our brands sponsorship portfolio. The Chrysler brand has a rich heritage of racing across the world which makes the partnership a good fit”, said Tabart.
V8 Supercars’ Director of Commercial and Marketing John Dunlop said. “It’s already going to be a massive year and to now have the Fiat Chrysler Group on board is great news for the sport and the Chrysler and Jeep brands,”
Chrysler is an amazing partner, we already know that, and getting to work with them again will be fantastic. The 300C SRT8 and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 are such strong brands and great cars that will gain valuable exposure on and off track”, said Dunlop.
The potent and evocative-sounding Chrysler 300 SRT8s will be at each event leading the pack with its new 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engine, making it one of the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated V8s, punching out a track-worthy 347kW @ 6100rpm and a tidal wave of 631Nm of torque at a low 4150rpm.
FCG will be supplying two Chrysler SRT8s and one Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, officially titled the Pedders STP Safety Car, Pedders STP Course Car and Official V8 Supercars Chase vehicle. The vehicles will make their debut tomorrow at the season launch Test Day at eastern Creek, which will give the public a sneak preview of the 2013 line up.
