Cam Waters will step back into speedway competition this month in the Northern Territory.

The Tickford Racing driver completed a speedway season with Chief Racing last summer.

Waters will contest consecutive nights of speedway racing in Darwin this weekend.

He will then race at the Penrite Oil Sandown SuperSprint before returning to his Sprint Car.

The Ford driver will drive his Chief Racing Maxim on Friday night in Round 11 of the Northline Speedway titles.

He will back it up on Saturday night for the Northern Territory State Championships.

The state title is expected to attract a field of more than 50 Sprint Cars.

Waters’ Supercar commitments will be followed by the 'Dance in the Desert’ in Alice Springs.

Arunga Park Speedway will host the event on August 30.

Waters greatly impressed last summer, scoring a number of career-best results.

Notably, he scored a podium at Moama in February prior to the Supercars season opener.

Waters moved to second in the Supercars standings at the OTR SuperSprint.

He heads to Darwin in form in the Top End, having won Race 17 in June.

"I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the Chief Racing #6 at Northline this weekend,” he said.

“I hope my recent Supercars form at Hidden Valley can carry over to some successful running on the clay.

"We’re pretty much using the first two events as shakedown meetings in anticipation of giving the first ‘Chariots of Thunder’ weekend a real crack.

“It’s great to have a new major partner in G1 Logistics on board too, and with them being Mildura-based it gives the whole Chief Racing program a nice feel to it.

"I’ll certainly be in for a busy few weeks, but the opportunity to get back behind the wheel of the Sprint Car, and at one of the country's biggest events, was impossible to knock back.

"I really have to thank Colin McQuinn and the team for the enormous effort they have put into making this happen."

Waters is 393 points behind Shane van Gisbergen heading to Sandown.
