The Rock talks Supercars with Frosty

The biggest movie star in the world, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Supercars star Mark Winterbottom have taken time out of their busy schedules to talk all things Black Adam and Supercars.

The Rock’s upcoming film, Black Adam, hits Australian cinemas on October 20.

Johnson spoke with Winterbottom from Los Angeles ahead of practice at Mount Panorama for this weekend’s Great Race.

Winterbottom asked The Rock if he was a fan of motor racing and he said:

“I’ve got a lot of respect for you guys, truly a lot of respect.”

“As a matter of fact, I got in a car at a track in Las Vegas.

“It was a NASCAR and I had just ate lunch and the driver wanted to take me around.

“He took me around to teach me a lesson and he took me on a spin … he got it going.

“I was trying to tell him to go in, and I was giving him the hand sign, and he thought I meant go faster, so he kept going faster and that thing kicked my ass.”

As part of a partnership between Universal Studios and Supercars, one of the Ford Mustang Course Cars will be sporting a Black Adam livery for this weekend’s Repco Bathurst 1000 and the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.

“You boys be safe on the track, and whoever is driving that Black Adam car, that’s pretty cool, please tell that driver I said hello.

“Give them a big uncomfortable hug from me.”

Frosty took the time to ask The Rock if he’d want a spin in a Supercar. The Rock said: “I used to love really fast cars man, but then I realised I can’t fit in most of them… I tried to… but I used to get stuck in them, but yeah I like some speed.

“I get my trucks up there too man, I got some boost in my trucks, they go.

“They probably can’t beat your cars man, but they got some go.”

When Frosty asked The Rock if he had any advice for aspiring Supercars drivers Johnson responded: “Yeah absolutely. Continue to do what the f*** you’re doing. That’s my words of wisdom.

“There’s a reason you’re a demon on the track.”

The pair discussed parenthood and being a 'Superhero' to their own kids to which The Rock said: “You get one shot to do something like this. In this world of acting, I consider myself very lucky.

“You’re lucky if you get the chance to play in a Superhero world and there’s only so many Superhero characters, so I got lucky man, I got lucky to find one with Black Adam.

“I think he’s coming around at the right time, where for over a decade now, the Superhero genre has been so powerful and so successful that its nice to have Black Adam come in, be the disrupter, be this anti-hero and take this idea of justice and what it means and turn it on its head, almost Clint Eastwood style.”

Frosty tried to test Johnson on his knowledge of Supercars drivers and held up a picture from his 2019 pole from IRWIN Racing in Tasmania to see if he knew who it was.

The Rock responded with a sarcastic: “That’s Danny Green, old man Green’s kid. He’s f***ing great I love him.

“Who is that you?”

“Thank you to everyone in Australia for all the love and support over the years I really appreciate it.

Fans can get up close with the Black Adam Ford Mustang at the Repco Bathurst 1000 and Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.

Black Adam will be in cinemas everywhere from October 20.
