Tony D’Alberto Racing is taking a unique ‘travel’approach to the next two events on the V8 Supercars calendar – starting withthe SKYCITY Triple Crown at Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin this weekend.

The Victorian team has headed to Darwin whereteam driver Tony D’Alberto will race his #3 Team HIFLEX Commodore in the sixthevent of the prestigious Championship.

After Darwin is run and won, the team’stransporter will head directly to North Queensland ahead of the SucrogenTownsville 400 – the next event on the hectic V8 calendar.

The TDR squad is one of the only teams not headingback to its ‘home’ base in Victoria.

“It has been a very busy start to the year foreveryone in the V8 Supercars Championship,” Tony D’Alberto said.

“It was only a month or so ago that we didback-to-back events in Tasmania and New Zealand. Not long after, we were inPerth, and then we were over in Texas.”

Adding to the team’s workload was the fact thatboth D’Alberto’s Commodore and the team’s Dunlop Series entry for Nick McBridewere prepared for Darwin, even though McBride will not race until Townsville.

After the Hidden Valley event, the Team HIFLEXcrew will remain in Darwin for a couple of days to race-prepare the #3D’Alberto Commodore. The truck leaves Darwin on Wednesday, heading straight forTownsville.

“Darwin is a long haul for our team andtransporter, so we thought we’d try doing Darwin and Townsville in the one run,”D’Alberto explained. “It makes sense on a lot of levels, and if it all workswell, hopefully we’re in a good position to capitalise on the race track.”

The team has organised a workshop in Townsvillefor it to use in case further maintenance needs to undertaken on the car.

Darwin track action kicks off with three practicesessions on Friday.
