Shane van Gisbergen and Garth Tander have accepted their winners' plaque in celebration of their 2020 Great Race victory.

Van Gisbergen and Tander combined to win the Bathurst 1000 last October.

It marked van Gisbergen's first win in 14 attempts, and Tander's fourth victory in the 161-lap classic.

The two drivers, who will share a car for a third straight year, accepted their plaque at the Rail Museum in Tuesday.

The plaque will be fitted along the famous Victor's Walk in Russell Street in downtown Bathurst.

'Great to have fans back!: SVG and Tander share special fan moment

Each and every year has a plaque cemented in to the Victor's Walk.

Van Gisbergen and Tander completed a Q&A with fans at the Rail Museum before conducting a signing session.

Having missed out on the full fan experience in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, van Gisbergen was delighted to witness crowds' return to Mount Panorama.

"It's pretty awesome having all the fans back," van Gisbergen said.

"Having the atmosphere back at the track is going to be really cool, I can't wait for that again."

Tander added: "How good is it to have fans here.

"Last year was great, but we didn't get to share it with anywhere near enough people.

"Even just here on Tuesday, the atmosphere in town is building, and it's great to see things starting to return to normal."

Cars will hit the track on Thursday for Practice 1 at 10:00am AEDT. Click here to view the track schedule.

Every session of the event will be broadcast live on Foxtel (Fox Sports 503) and streamed on Kayo.

The Seven Network will provide live free to air coverage of the event. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
