Goddard's Bathurst 1000 co-driver revealed

Matt Stone Racing has confirmed Jayden Ojeda will race alongside Zane Goddard in December's Repco Bathurst 1000.

Ojeda, 22, currently competes for MW Motorsport in the Dunlop Super2 Series.

He underwent an evaluation with MSR in September at Queensland Raceway.

The Sydneysider will drive the #35 YellowCover entry with Goddard, with will make his last full-time appearance for MSR at Mount Panorama.

Ojeda made his Great Race debut in a Garry Rogers Motorsport wildcard last year.

"I’m thrilled to be teaming up with Zane for the Bathurst 1000 in the #35," Ojeda said.

"It has been a chaotic year so far, so I am looking forward to heading to Bathurst and turning some extra laps.

"Last year was a very different Bathurst 1000 without the large fan presence.

"It will be great to have all the fans back this year as it really changes the energy around the whole week.

"I completed a co-driver evaluation in September and really gelled with the #35 ZB Commodore and the whole Matt Stone Racing crew.

"I think we have a strong package and can be in for a strong result at the end of 161 laps."

The 2019 Super2 runner-up made his Great Race debut in 2020, securing a late call-up to co-drive with Tyler Everingham in a Garry Rogers Motorsport wildcard.

Ojeda sits third in the Super2 standings, having recorded four podium finishes.

"We have been assessing our co-driver options for a while now and wanted to have a good look at the top Super2 talent as well as some experienced drivers," team owner Matt Stone said.

"We generally prefer to support the younger drivers, but at the same time this is Zane’s championship, so the most important factor is to have a safe pair of hands who understands the role of a co-driver and will work well with Zane and the team.

"After a solid performance in Super2 so far this year, and the advantage of having done his first Bathurst 1000 race last year, we decided that the time was right for Jayden to deliver a solid enduro performance this year with our team.

"We think that the combination of Zane and Jayden can deliver a very good result in the Yellow Cover Racing car if everything goes to plan."

The 2021 Repco Supercars Championship will resume this weekend at the ARMOR ALL Sydney SuperNight.

Tickets for the three upcoming Sydney events are on sale now.
